Long Island City, NY — Richard M. Cherry, president of Community Environmental Center (CEC), a New York City not-for-profit organization that provides green building services to low-income homes and apartment buildings, will receive an E-Chievement Award on the eTown Radio Show, December 7, at 8:00 p.m. The taping will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, 8th Avenue and 34th St.
This eTown show will be broadcast nationally on more than 270 affiliated NPR, commercial and community radio stations the week of December 23-29, 2009. The broadcast will be carried on 90.7 WFUV-FM in the NY Metro Area.
Cherry, who founded CEC in 1994, will be interviewed onstage at the Grand Ballroom by eTown host Nick Forster, eTown CEO and a founding member of the world-renowned bluegrass band, Hot Rize.
Cherry joins an impressive list of former eTown interviewees and award-winners, including legendary folk-singer and environmentalist Pete Seeger; Former President Jimmy Carter; Pam Kingfisher of Native Americans for a Clean Environment; and award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore.
Nick and Helen Forster and the eTown crew will do this special two-hour taping at the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center. Musical guests will include virtuoso pianist and singer Tori Amos, appearing solo and featuring excerpts from her new holiday release, Midwinter Graces, and veteran Americana singer-songwriter and ASCAP Lifetime Achievement Award winner Jesse Winchester, performing songs from his acclaimed new release, Love Filling Station.
